We want students to maintain decorum at the college while making the best out of it," said Ramneek Sharma, dean, GC-11.
The helpdesk at the college was prepared well in advance to help new students and solve their problems.
Gurpreet Kaur, professor (department of computer science), GGSCW-26, said, "Today was the first day of students. A basic interaction session with freshers was held to ensure a friendly and transparent relationship. Though an inaugural function was organized to make freshers aware about the basic functioning of the college, we plan to hold an assembly on Monday in which they will be given an overall view of the college. They will be introduced to teachers who are not from their subjects as well."

"Our college has various committees like: grievances cell, sexual harassment committee and anti-ragging panel so that students have a forum where they can voice their concerns," she added.
The excitement was high among new students.
Rachna Purohit, a student of GC-11, said, "At first, everything seemed very new to me and finding my way to the classes was a huge task. But the helpdesk and my seniors helped me tackle all problems."
Mallika Rana, a fresher at GGSCW-26, said "I was experiencing an adrenaline rush as I took my first steps towards the college where I have to spend the next three years of my life. Meeting new people has upped my excitement level."
Kamal Raj, a student of GC-11, said, "It's first day and I don't know many people here. It will take some time before I make friends."
